#GiveToGain: Hospital Champions Women’s Empowerment at Golf Tournament and Gala


Kisumu, Kenya, March 08, 2026, The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu participated in the International Women’s Day golf tournament at Nyanza Golf Club under the theme #GiveToGain. The team celebrated women’s strength and resilience while promoting equity, empowerment, and community impact. Each swing symbolised support and opportu­nity, underscoring that when women thrive, communities benefit. The day combined sport, solidarity, and shared purpose, demonstrating that meaningful progress happens when we give together.


The event also created opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and organisations, fostering new partnerships and conversations around women’s advancement. Beyond the competition, it served as a platform for inspiration, reflection, and renewed commitment to positive change. Participants left energised, carrying the message that small acts of support can create lasting impact.


In the evening, Nyanza Golf Club transformed into a vibrant sea of purple for the International Women’s Day Gala Dinner, sponsored by The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu.


The presence of Special Guest Hon. Ruth Odinga, Women’s Representative for Kisumu County, highlighted the event’s importance and added depth and inspiration to the evening.


The elegant gathering convened influential women leaders for impactful dialogue and lasting connections. Jane Wanyama, CEO of The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu was among the distinguished panellists, contributing insightful perspectives on this year’s global theme: #GiveToGain.


This gathering was more than a celebration: it was a high-impact platform that mobilised stakeholders, amplified commitments to gender equity, and demonstrated that intentional support for women produces measurable, lasting benefits for the whole community.


 


About The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu


The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu was established in 1952 as a private, not-for-profit institution providing primary, secondary, and tertiary health care services in Kenya. In 2019 the hospital was awarded a SafeCare Level 5 Certification and is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Health System, which operates in eight countries, and provides community health programmes covering over 200 health facilities, including 22 hospitals.


The recent expansion to a new ultra-modern building transformed the former 70-bed facility into a leading 123-bed secondary hospital offering some tertiary care services and providing integrated healthcare for people in the Western region and rest of Kenya.
