World Heart Day: Simba Club and Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu Team Up for an Exciting Fitness Challenge to Raise Awareness on Heart Health
Kisumu, Kenya, September 28, 2024—The World Heart Day celebrations reached new heights at Simba Club, Kisumu, where The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, organized a heart-pounding fitness challenge. This event brought together the community to support this year’s theme, “Use Heart for Action,” which promotes heart health through physical activity and awareness.
The competition saw spirited participation from top organizations, including #Kiwasco, #Safaricom, #Kengen, #Chathe Group – Kibos, and #AgaKhanPrimary. Teams battled it out in a series of fitness challenges, all aimed at raising cardiovascular health awareness. Kengen took home the top prize, with Kibos coming in a close second and Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, securing third place.
As the organizing force behind this successful event, Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, reinforced its commitment to promoting public health and encouraging active living. The event emphasised the importance of heart health in a fun and engaging way, drawing in participants from across the community.

About Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, was established in 1952 as a private, not-for-profit institution that provides primary and secondary level health care services in Kenya. In 2019, the hospital was awarded SafeCare Level 5 Certification and is part of the AKDN Health System in eight countries, which provides community health programmes covering over 200 health facilities, including 12 hospitals.
The recent expansion to a new ultra-modern building transformed the previous 70-bed facility into a leading 123-bed secondary hospital, offering tertiary care services that provides integrated health care for people in the Western region and rest of Kenya.
